Lower Blackrock Spire

Lower Blackrock Spire is the lower citadel of Blackrock Spire, and three generals hold it: Highlord Omokk of the Spirestone ogres, War Master Voone of the Smolderthorn trolls and Overlord Wyrmthalak of the Bloodaxe orcs. It's a 10-player run built for the last push to 60.

You come here for three things: Dungeon Set pieces for leather and mail wearers, a stack of quests that all want the same three generals dead, and the gemstones that start your key to Upper Blackrock Spire.

The run is long, and two fights punish a group that relaxes. Gizrul the Slavener comes for you the moment Halycon dies, and Overlord Wyrmthalak calls in help partway through his fight.

Blackrock Mountain sits between the Searing Gorge and the Burning Steppes, and you can walk in from either side. Inside the mountain, take the path up to the Blackrock Spire portal: the way down leads to Blackrock Depths instead.

Lower and Upper Blackrock Spire share that portal. The sealed gate to Upper stands near the start and opens only with a Seal of Ascension: the Upper Blackrock Spire guide covers the key.

The Horde's quests for this run go through Kargath in the Badlands, and the Alliance works for Marshal Maxwell in the Burning Steppes. Visit your side's hub before you zone in.

Stack the quests that share targets. The Seal of Ascension and your side's generals quest both want Highlord Omokk, War Master Voone and Overlord Wyrmthalak, so one full clear finishes both.

The three generals

• Seal of Ascension: bring the Gemstone of Spirestone, Gemstone of Smolderthorn and Gemstone of Bloodaxe to Vaelan with the Unadorned Seal of Ascension. Omokk, Voone and Wyrmthalak each drop their gemstone, and this quest starts your key to Upper Blackrock Spire.
• Maxwell's Mission (Alliance) and Warlord's Command (Horde): kill all three generals. The Horde version also wants the Important Blackrock Documents.
• General Drakkisath's Command (Alliance) starts from General Drakkisath's Command, which Wyrmthalak drops. Take it to Marshal Maxwell.

Bijou

• Operative Bijou (Horde): find out what happened to Bijou.
• Bijou's Belongings (Horde, Alliance): find her belongings and return them to her. The Horde version adds that she stashed them on the bottom floor of the city.
• Bijou's Reconnaissance Report (Horde) carries her report back to Grandmaster Lexlort in Kargath, and Message to Maxwell (Alliance) takes her information to Marshal Maxwell.

Beasts, eggs and poison

• Put Her Down (Alliance) and The Pack Mistress (Horde): slay Halycon, pack mistress of the Bloodaxe worgs.
• Kibler's Exotic Pets: use Kibler's cage on a Bloodaxe Worg Pup and bring back a Caged Worg Pup.
• En-Ay-Es-Tee-Why: 15 Spire Spider Eggs for Kibler. Look near the spiders.
• Mother's Milk: get Mother Smolderweb to poison you, then return to Ragged John while you're still poisoned so he can milk you.

Everything else

• Urok Doomhowl: read Warosh's Scroll, then bring Warosh's Mojo back to Warosh.
• The Final Tablets: the Fifth and Sixth Mosh'aru Tablets, for Prospector Ironboot in Tanaris.
• Hot Fiery Death: a pair of gauntlets and one instruction: find someone in the world who knows what to do with them.
• The Left Piece of Lord Valthalak's Amulet and The Right Piece of Lord Valthalak's Amulet: summon the spirit of Mor Grayhoof with the Brazier of Beckoning, slay him, and take the amulet pieces back to Bodley inside Blackrock Mountain.

• The entrance halls belong to the Scarshield Legion. Scarshield Spellbinders and Scarshield Warlocks are the casters: crowd-control or kill them first.
• Spirestone ogre packs mix heavy hitters with casters such as Spirestone Ogre Magi. Crowd-control a caster and pull the rest back to ground you've cleared.
• The Smolderthorn troll quarter is the densest part of the run: shadow priests, witch doctors, seers and axe throwers in mixed packs. Pull around corners so the casters and throwers come to you.
• The spider caves swarm with Spire Spiderlings. They're non-elite, so area damage clears them fast.
• Near the end, Bloodaxe orcs share packs with their worgs. The worgs are non-elite too: area damage handles them while the tank holds the orcs.

The Dungeon Set pieces here are all leather and mail, but every armor type finds something:

• Mail: Beaststalker's Gloves from War Master Voone and Beaststalker's Mantle from Overlord Wyrmthalak (Beaststalker), and Boots of Elements from Highlord Omokk (The Elements).
• Leather: Shadowcraft Gloves from Shadow Hunter Vosh'gajin (Shadowcraft), and Wildheart Boots from Mother Smolderweb and Wildheart Spaulders from Gizrul the Slavener (Wildheart).
• Plate: Plate of the Shaman King and Slamshot Shoulders from Omokk, Reiver Claws from Wyrmthalak and Ribsteel Footguards from Urok Doomhowl.
• Cloth: Skyshroud Leggings from Omokk, Hands of Power from Quartermaster Zigris and Wolfshear Leggings from Gizrul.
• Weapons: Fist of Omokk, a two-handed mace, from Omokk; Chillpike, Relentless Scythe and Trindlehaven Staff from Wyrmthalak; Venomspitter from Mother Smolderweb; Keris of Zul'Serak from Voone; and Blackcrow from Vosh'gajin.
• Trinkets and rings: Mark of the Dragon Lord, an epic ring, and Heart of the Scale from Wyrmthalak; Smolderweb's Eye from Mother Smolderweb.

• Sort out curse removal before Vosh'gajin, not during her fight.
