Everything about WoW Forever's new Skyborne race: High Order and Windshaper classes, the Zephras Isle 1–12 start, ley lines and elemental convergences, the Attuned and Charged states, racials in practice and the Heroic Pack you need.

The Skyborne are the one new race in Forever, and the only race that can join either faction. You pick the side when you create the character: High Order for the Alliance, Windshaper for the Horde. Both start on their own island, Zephras Isle, and reach the mainland at level 12.
The Skyborne, or shen'dorei as they call themselves, descend from Highborne elves who were driven out long ago. They found refuge in Skywall, the elemental plane of air, by making a pact with its wind spirits, and lived there for generations. When the story starts, those spirits have gone silent, the old Skyborne structures on Zephras Isle are failing, and a cult called the Al'Aketh is turning on its own people.
Two orders answer the crisis in different ways, and they are the two halves of the race:
Both look the same, share three racials and play through the same island story; the order decides your fourth racial, your class options and your capital cities.
| Order | Classes |
|---|---|
| High Order (Alliance) | Druid, Hunter, Mage, Rogue, Warrior |
| Windshaper (Horde) | Druid, Hunter, Rogue, Shaman, Warrior |
Skyborne cannot be Paladins, Priests or Warlocks. All ten pairings are new, which makes the Skyborne the race with the most new combinations.
Which race is best for each class, Skyborne included, is in Racials and the best race for every class.
Zephras Isle is the only place a Skyborne can start, and Skyborne are the only race that starts there. The island has over a hundred quests across three hubs and finishes with the story's confrontation at the Rohashi Spires.
| Area | Levels and what happens |
|---|---|
| Thendal Grove | 1–5. Your coming of age, the first racial quests, the cirrusflies and the first signs of elemental unrest. |
| Shen'dar Village | 6–8. Each order recruits you (The High Order or The Windshapers), and the Al'Aketh cult shows its hand. |
| Valanaar | 9–12. The Skyborne capital: the island's leaders, the hunt for the cult and the road to the Rohashi Spires. |
| Shadowgale Forest | 11–13. The Nightclaw Druids, a reputation with crafting recipes, a pet and a mantle (Nightclaw reputation). |
The first quests in Thendal Grove teach your racials: Falling With Style for Walk on Air, then Reading the Leylines (High Order) or The Gift of Skysight (Windshaper), both at the standing stones north-east of the village. Do them: they show you what a ley line and a convergence look like.
At 12 the story puts you on a skycutter to the mainland: Dalaran and then Stormwind for the High Order, Mulgore and then Orgrimmar for the Windshapers. Every step, and the fast ways around the island, are in Leaving Zephras Isle.
Each order has one racial that works anywhere but gets much stronger at a place of power. High Order read ley lines; Windshapers draw on elemental convergences. The first ones stand at the standing stones of Thendal Grove; after the island you find them in most zones of the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor.
| Racial | What it does |
|---|---|
| Read Ley Line, anywhere | Read Ley Line: +50% health and mana regeneration for 15 seconds. 0.5-second cast, usable on the move, 2-minute cooldown. |
| Read Ley Line at a ley line | Also makes you Attuned for 1 hour. |
| Read Ley Line while Attuned | +100% health and mana regeneration for 15 seconds, wherever you are. |
| Skysight, anywhere | Skysight: +15% movement speed for 15 seconds. 0.5-second cast, usable on the move, 2-minute cooldown. |
| Skysight at a convergence | Also makes you Charged for 1 hour. |
| Skysight while Charged | +30% movement speed for 15 seconds, wherever you are. |
Attuned and Charged survive death, but entering a raid removes them. Read Ley Line also cannot be used while Innervate is on you: Innervate replaces it.
The routine that works: whenever your route passes a ley line or a convergence, cast your racial there to refresh the hour, then use it on cooldown. Read Ley Line while Attuned doubles your regeneration between pulls; Skysight while Charged is 30% speed for every long run on foot.
Glide for 10 seconds, every 90 seconds, steering as you go. Jump off a cliff instead of walking around it; it works in Druid forms too.
Less time eating and drinking, especially while Attuned.
2% Haste on every cast, swing and shot, always on.
5% more damage against Elementals, starting with the unruly spirits on Zephras Isle.
The same glide.
Faster travel, and a way out of melee range.
Wind Blessed is a solid passive for any damage dealer or healer. What the Skyborne lack is a combat cooldown or a way out of control effects: no stun break like Human or Orc, no fear break like Undead. That makes them a comfortable leveling and PvE race and a weaker pick for competitive PvP.
The Skyborne race, and with it Zephras Isle, needs the Skyborne Heroic Pack or one of the bigger editions on top of your subscription or Game Time. Every other race only needs the subscription.
| Edition | What it adds |
|---|---|
| Skyborne Heroic Pack | The Skyborne race, early name reservation (Oct 27 to Nov 3), the Cerulean Prideclaw mount (needs riding skill), the Shen'dorei Skyseer's Garb, a rucksack, the Shen'dorei Windwell toy, housing decor and one Invite-A-Friend code. |
| Skyborne Epic Pack | Everything in the Heroic Pack, 30 days of game time from Nov 4, more cosmetics, tabards and pets, and two more Invite-A-Friend codes. |
| Warcraft Forever Collection | Everything in the Epic Pack, plus Warcraft III: Reforged with the Forsaken Kingdom campaign and housing figurines. On sale until Jan 11, 2027. |
Invite-A-Friend codes work from Nov 4 to Nov 11 and let a friend play without a subscription during launch week. Skyborne player models are high-definition only for now; a classic-style model and matching Druid forms follow in early 2027.
Finish the island first. Finish Zephras Isle before you board the skycutter: the chain moves you to the mainland and does not bring you back on its own.
Refresh the hour. Attuned and Charged last an hour and survive deaths, so one stop at a ley line or a convergence covers a long questing session.
Skysight on every run. Charged Skysight is 30% more speed for 15 seconds every 2 minutes. Use it whenever you cross a zone on foot.
Glide, do not walk. Walk on Air saves you the long way round on Zephras Isle and anywhere with cliffs, and it turns a deadly fall into a soft landing.
The same 2% Haste.
The same 5% against Elementals.
