Guide
The quickest way to 16 Legacy points in WoW Forever: which challenges come first, the 29 points one character can earn, how alts and crafting professions speed it up, and which perks to buy first for leveling, gold or professions.

Legacy points belong to your account, and every character spends up to 16 of them on perks. Reaching 16 early matters: from then on, every new character starts with a full set of perks from level 1. This guide is the shortest road there. For what each perk does, see the Legacy system guide.
Every challenge is worth one point and counts once per account. Roughly in the order a new main earns them:
That is 11 points from leveling, two crafts and the first two dungeon lists. The last five come from slower goals:
A single character can earn 29 of the 65 points without an alt:
| Source | Points |
|---|---|
| Levels 25, 45 and 60 | 3 |
| Two crafting professions at 150, 225 and 300 | 6 |
| PvP ranks, battleground reputations and the Field of Honor journey | 12 |
| Explorer and Lord Valthalak | 2 |
| The three Spelunker dungeon lists | 3 |
| Onyxia, Hyjal Summit and the Barrow Deeps | 3 |
PvP is the biggest pool: five ranks (3, 7, 10, 13 and 14), Exalted with each of the four battleground factions, and the journey's tasks for weeks 4, 7 and 10. It is also the slowest, since ranks and the journey both move week by week.
The challenges a main can't repeat, an alt can. Two sources make alts the quickest way to 16:
| Step | Running total |
|---|---|
| Main to 45, two crafts to 225, Novice Spelunker | 7 |
| Three alts of new classes to 25 | 10 |
| Two of those alts take two new crafts each to 150 | 14 |
| Main finishes Experienced Spelunker | 15 |
| Main reaches 60 | 16 |
The order is flexible: any mix of class milestones and crafting ranks gets there. Your crafting alts pay for themselves, since the materials they gather and the goods they make feed your main.
Perks are bought one rank at a time, so spend each point the moment you earn it. Each tree has its own gates: a perk that needs 5 or 10 points counts only the points spent in its own tree, and a prerequisite must be at its maximum rank. Respec your perks at a class trainer when your plans change.
Take your main's build for its goal and give each alt its own: a gathering alt on the gold build makes the gold that pays for your main's professions. The full perk list, the endgame and PvP builds and the reward track are in the Legacy system guide.
Your spend cap stops at 16 for now, but your earned total keeps counting. The Legacy rewards unlock from that total: a toy at 15 points, a pet at 25, a tabard at 40 and the Spectral Bear mount at 55. Every point you earn after 16 also leaves you ready for when the cap rises. Track your challenges in the Legacy planner.
