Turn on WoW Forever's built-in gamepad interface, learn the default button map, put spells on buttons, the options worth changing, class flyouts and current issues. Works on Steam Deck.
Forever ships with a full controller interface: action bars, targeting, menus and party frames all work from a gamepad, and you can switch between gamepad and keyboard at any time. It is still marked Alpha, so a few things need a mouse.
Menu, Options, the System tab, Gamepad (Alpha), then tick Enable Gamepad UI (Alpha).
Escape, Options, Gameplay, Gamepad (Alpha), Enable Gamepad UI (Alpha).
Switch on Show Input Legend (button glyphs at the top left) and Show Input Prompts (glyphs on your bars) while you learn the layout.

| Use Compact Action Bar | Shows only the page you are using instead of all of them. |
| Fixed Party Targeting | In a party (not a raid), each D-pad direction always targets the same party member. Great for healers. |
| Swap Target Modifier Sides | Friendly targeting on the right bumper, hostile on the left. |
| Swap Friendly or Hostile Target Action Sides | Swaps the D-pad and face button actions while you hold that modifier. |
| Frame Focus Style | Gold, blue or black border on the window you are using. |
| Hover Mode | Raid targeting by hovering (off by default). |
| Camera | Speed, invert and follow camera settings. |
Some classes get a flyout button that opens a small ring of related spells, so they take one slot instead of several.

Your layout resets. Turning the gamepad interface on or off resets your Edit Mode layout to the default.
Bindings are fixed since October 1. The gamepad's own bindings no longer change: rebinding on the gamepad only changes the keyboard and mouse interface.
Some menus need the mouse. A few windows still cannot be reached with the controller. Keep a mouse or the Steam Deck trackpad handy.
October 1: the pet stable, the compact raid and party manager frames work with a gamepad, and macros on a gamepad bar can be moved again.
