Guide
What every stat does in WoW Forever: Strength, Agility, Stamina, Intellect, Spirit, armor, Hit, Critical Strike, Haste, Spell Power, healing, defense and resistances. The hit cap, what changed from Classic and the stats each spec stacks.

Gear in Forever carries the stats you know, with a few changes that decide what to wear. Hit and Critical Strike are single stats, healing gear deals damage too, Spell Power replaces the old damage and healing lines, and Haste is rare. This guide covers what each stat does, the hit cap, and the stats every spec stacks.
| Change |
|---|
| What it means |
|---|
| One Hit stat | Spell, melee and ranged Hit are the same stat. Every point on your gear works for every attack and spell you use. |
|---|---|
| One Crit stat | Critical Strike is one stat too. A Retribution Paladin or Enhancement Shaman gets full value on both weapon attacks and spells. |
| Ratings on gear | Hit and Critical Strike show up as ratings: "+14 Critical Strike Rating", "+3 Hit Rating". |
| Healing adds damage | Gear with bonus healing also gives bonus damage equal to a third of its healing value. |
| Spell Power | Newer caster gear shows one Spell Power line instead of separate damage and healing lines. |
| Caster weapons | Spellcaster weapons carry Spell Power on their leveling upgrades. |
| Weapon Skill | It works as before, but items give much less of it. |
| Dodge and parry | Some items now reduce the chance your attacks are dodged or parried: look for Expertise Rating. |
| Wands | They no longer gain damage from Spell Power. Compare them on damage per second. |
| Trinkets | Many are tied to an environment or a creature type, so keep a couple to swap. |

| Stat | What it does and who wants it |
|---|---|
| Strength | Attack Power for melee. Warriors, Retribution Paladins, Enhancement Shamans and Feral Druids stack it. |
| Agility | Attack Power for Hunters and Rogues, and a top stat for Feral Druids. Warriors rank it below Strength. |
| Stamina | Health. First for tanks and in PvP, and Warlocks use it as fuel for Life Tap. |
| Intellect | Mana. A standard stat for every caster and healer, and Hunters, Retribution Paladins and Enhancement Shamans want some too. |
| Spirit | Regeneration. First or second for healers, and Warlocks convert more health with Life Tap the more Spirit they have. Humans get 10% more. |
| Armor | Cuts the physical damage you take. Tanks stack it, and cloak and shield enchants add some. |
| Attack Power | Raises the damage of melee and ranged attacks. Gear gives it directly, on top of what Strength and Agility add. |
| Spell Power | Adds to the damage and healing of your spells. Casters stack it right after Hit. |
| Healing Power | Adds to your heals, and a third of it to your damage. Healers stack it first. |
| Mana per 5 seconds | Mana you keep regenerating while casting. Healers value it most. |
| Hit Rating | Lowers your chance to miss. The top stat for damage dealers until you reach the cap. |
| Critical Strike Rating | Raises your chance to land a critical hit. 14 rating is 1%. |
| Haste Rating | Faster casts and swings. 10 rating is 1%. Rare on gear. |
| Expertise Rating | Lowers the chance your attacks are dodged or parried. 10 rating is 1%. |
| Defense Rating | Makes you harder to crit and hit. Tanks stack it. |
| Dodge, Parry and Block Rating | Avoidance for tanks. Block Value raises how much a block absorbs. |
| Weapon Skill | Skill with your weapon type. Items give little of it now, and it still sits on the Warrior lists. |
| Resistances | Fire, frost, nature, shadow and arcane resistance reduce spell damage of that school. Cloak enchants add a few. |
Enchants add more of the same: the enchanting scrolls guide lists every one by slot.
Hit is the stat with a hard cap. Below it, every point is worth a lot; above it, nothing. Against a level 63 enemy you need:
| Attacks | Hit needed, and the rating at level 60 |
|---|---|
| Spells | 16%, which is 160 Hit Rating. |
| Melee and ranged attacks | 9%, which is 90 Hit Rating. |
| Dual wield, white swings | 28%, which is 280 Hit Rating. |
Hit from talents and race counts toward the cap, so you need less on gear. Dwarves get +1% hit from Artisan's Precision, and Fury Warriors add +10% off-hand hit from Furious Precision. Because Hit is one stat, a Retribution Paladin or Enhancement Shaman has two caps to think about: the spell one and the attack one.
Under the cap you take Hit before almost anything else, which is why it heads the stat list of nearly every raid spec below. Once you pass it, put the extra into Spell Power, Strength, Agility or Critical Strike.
Critical Strike. 14 Crit Rating is 1% crit chance. Several class mechanics feed on crits: Fury Warriors get double Rage from every critical swing and trigger Flurry with it, and Retribution Paladins stack Vengeance from them. Humans have +1% crit from Ruthless, and Night Elves get +10% crit for 15 seconds from Elune's Light.
Haste. 10 Haste Rating is 1% faster casts and swings, and almost no item carries it. The haste you will see is racial: the Skyborne's Wind Blessed gives a flat +2% Haste on spells, melee and ranged attacks, and Trolls get +10% casting and attack speed for 15 seconds from Berserking. In the lists below, Haste sits near the bottom for most specs.
These are the raid priorities from our class guides. Each class guide also has the dungeon, leveling and PvP lists.

16% for spells and 9% for melee and ranged attacks against a level 63 enemy, which is 160 and 90 Hit Rating at level 60. Dual wielders need 28% on their white swings.
Healers don't. Tanks only want it after Stamina, Defense and Armor.
No. There is one Hit stat: the same rating counts for melee, ranged and spells. The same goes for Critical Strike.
Items give much less of it than before, and it no longer decides your best weapon.
A little. Each race starts with its own spread of base stats, as in Classic: a Tauren Warrior begins with 5 more Strength than a Human Warrior, for example. By level 60 your gear outweighs the difference many times over, so pick a race for its racials, not its base stats.
There is almost none. Skyborne characters get a flat 2% from Wind Blessed; see the racials guide.
