Guide
Waylaid Crates in WoW Forever: where they drop, how to read the label, what each Apprentice, Journeyman, Expert and Artisan crate takes, where to hand them in and what they pay.
Written by stillsixty staff.
A Waylaid Crate is an unmarked shipment that never reached its buyer. Read its label and it becomes a crate for one kind of goods. Fill it with materials, hand it in at your faction's trade camp and you are paid in Merchant's Favor, the camp's own currency, and coin. The full system, with every recipe and reward, is on the Merchant's Favor page.
Waylaid Crates drop from ordinary monsters, some chests and dungeon monsters. They can be traded, so you can also buy them from other players. The tier is in the name, and it sets the level you need: Apprentice and Journeyman crates from level 10, Expert from 20, Artisan from 35.
Right-click the plain crate to read its label. It turns into a crate for one kind of goods, such as Waylaid Crate: Apprentice Herbs or Waylaid Crate: Apprentice Ingots.
Right-click the labelled crate. It lists several bundles and any one of them fills it. Click the stack you want to give in your bags; the whole amount has to sit in one stack. Buy the materials if you do not gather them.
Take the sealed crate to the trade camp: Marcy Baker at Three Corners in Redridge Mountains for the Alliance, Dokimi outside the Crossroads in the Barrens for the Horde. The first crate you hand in also gives you a Shipping Label. Its quest pays 50 more Favor and 2,000 reputation with the camp, once per character.
White crates (Herbs, Ore, Textiles, Curiosities) pay less than green crates (Fabrics, Ingots, Parts), which ask for crafted goods.
| Crate | Pays |
|---|---|
| Apprentice, white | 5 Favor and 2 silver 50 copper |
| Apprentice, green | 10 Favor and 5 silver |
| Journeyman, white | 10 Favor and 5 silver |
| Journeyman, green | 20 Favor and 10 silver |
A crate you will not fill is still worth keeping: crates can be sold, and a Forged Delivery Receipt turns an empty one into 50 reputation with the camp. Spend Favor on recipes, the Packmule Treat pet, a toy, a mount and a tabard.
Any one bundle in a row fills the crate. Quantities are for the whole bundle.
At Expert and Artisan the herb crates come in two kinds, Earthly and Flowering, with different herbs.
