Overview

This Tirisfal Glades dungeon fills the wreck of the old royal city, right on top of the Undercity. Inside, you hunt abominable creatures, take a highly toxic plague strain from Witherfang, and gather the relics of the fallen kingdom: bloodied insignias, the Crest of Lordaeron and a blood-stained letter.

It's a dungeon for your mid-teens: after Ragefire Chasm and the Hall of Thanes, before The Deadmines and Wailing Caverns. Both factions have quests here, and for the Horde the whole run starts at the Undercity's door.

Getting there

The Ruins of Lordaeron stand in Tirisfal Glades, over the Undercity. Tirisfal Glades is Horde territory.

  • Horde: the ruins are the Undercity's front door, and Brill is close by. Almost all of your quests turn in at the Undercity or in Brill; A Frightened Request goes back to Silverpine Forest.
  • Alliance: it's a long trip deep into Horde land, so travel as a group. Three of your four quests turn in back in Stormwind City.

Quests

Both factions have quests here. Pick up the NPC quests before you zone in, and loot everything inside: the Crest of Lordaeron starts a quest for both factions, a Bloodied Insignia starts one for the Alliance, and the Abominable Head starts one for the Horde.

Alliance

  • Level 21Requires 16Alliance

Collect the Head of the Baron and bring it back to Captain Truman.
  • Level 22Requires 16Alliance

Collect 10 Bloodied Insignias for General Marcus Jonathan in Stormwind City.
  • Level 22Requires 16Alliance

Return the Crest of Lordaeron to Lady Dena Kennedy in Stormwind City.
  • Level 22Requires 15Alliance

Bring the Blood-Stained Letter to Orphan Matron Nightingale in Stormwind City.

Horde

  • Level 22Requires 15Horde

Kill Rath'mael for Deathguard Kristof in Brill.
  • Level 22Requires 16Horde

Collect the Highly Toxic Strain from Witherfang for Theodore Griffs in the Undercity.
  • Level 22Requires 15Horde

Collect 25 Intact Limbs for Morbin Lightbane in the Undercity.
  • From Tabitha Heartweaver in Silverpine Forest (44.4, 42.8): find out what happened to Edward Heartweaver inside the ruins.
  • Level 22Requires 16Horde

Bring the Crest of Lordaeron to Oran Snakewrithe in the Undercity.
  • Level 21Requires 16Horde

Runs four quests long: take the Abominable Head to the Undercity, bring the Head of the Baron to the body of Othmar, collect a Toxic Skullcap, Blisterweed and Essence of Agony for Master Apothecary Faranell, and inject the Hissing Serum above Othmar's body.

Loot (3)

Abilities

  • TossTank

He throws the tank up and stuns them for 5 sec, so the tank loses a lot of time on him. Damage dealers, hold back a little or he turns on you.

  • PatrolImportant

A patrol passes through his room: kill it before you pull him. Bring his head back from the fight: both Unending Torment and Abominable Creatures need it as a quest item.

2. Witherfang

Level 17

Loot (3)

Abilities

  • Courtyard spidersImportant

The boss does nothing special, but every spider left alive in the courtyard comes to help. Clear them before the pull.

3. The Abandoned

Level 18

Loot (3)

Kill everything in the courtyard, then use the statue. Waves come in; she arrives once they are done.

Abilities

  • Frost NovaHealers

Frost damage on everyone around her. The waves before her cost mana too: healers, pace yourselves.

4. Bjork

Level 19

Loot (3)

Abilities

  • KnockbackTankImportant

He shoves players away. Kill the nearby groups beforehand so nobody lands in one.

  • Anti-Magic ShieldMagic effect

Spells do nothing to him while it is up. Casters: heal, drink or swap to wands until it drops.

  • Hard hitterTankHealers

His melee hits are big. Healers, focus the tank.

5. Rath'mael

Level 20

Loot (5)

Abilities

  • FlamestrikeDeadlyCan be interrupted

His deadliest spell. Both kicks and stuns work on him: agree on an order before the pull.

  • Long fightDamage dealers

He has the most health in the dungeon. Keep the interrupt rotation going until he drops.

6. Viktor the Vile

Level 19Final boss

Loot (3)

Clear the house and its statue, then use the fireplace. Waves of enemies follow, and he steps in once the final flesh golem falls.

Abilities

  • PoisonHealersPoison

His target gets poisoned. Healers, keep an eye on the tank and remove the poison when possible.

  • Hard hitterTank

His melee hits hurt. Several waves come first and they eat mana: drink between them and pack a few mana potions.

Loot

Every boss has three blue items on its loot table. The Lordaeron Captain, now listed as a rare rather than a boss, drops two items of his own, and Rath'mael adds two campsite blueprints, Blueprint: Fermenter and Blueprint: Arcane Salvager. The standouts:

  • Casters

    • From Rath'mael

    • From Trash mobs
    • From Trash mobs
Scepter of the Abandoned from The Abandoned, a main-hand mace with spell damage and healing, and Coldspire Staff from Rath'mael, a staff with the same. Rotmender's Leggings from The Abandoned and Rotmender's Treads from Rath'mael are two pieces of the five-piece Rotmender's Raiment cloth set; the other three, Rotmender's Sash, Rotmender's Gloves and Rotmender's Garb, drop from the dungeon's trash.
  • Two-handed melee

    • From Bjork
    • From Witherfang
Corpse Chopper from Bjork, with Strength, and Segmented Spider Leg from Witherfang, a staff with Agility and Strength.
  • One-handed melee

    • From Viktor the Vile
    • From The Baron
Vileblood Scimitar from Viktor the Vile and Meathook Slicer from The Baron.
  • Leather

    • From Viktor the Vile
Bloodied Chestwraps from Viktor the Vile, with Agility.
  • Mail

    • From The Baron
    • From The Abandoned
the deepest armor pool in the dungeon, with a chest, belt, gloves, legs and boots. Start with Abomination Bones from The Baron and Grip of Fear from The Abandoned.
  • Shield

    • From Rath'mael
    Mirror of Rath'mael from Rath'mael.

Rath'mael's drops and the Lordaeron Captain's need more levels than the rest of the table, so they're upgrades you grow into.

Tips

  • Tip

Loot every quest item you see. Some of them start quests of their own.

  • Tip

Horde: take The New Plague and The Wrath of Rath'mael before you go in. Witherfang and Rath'mael are both bosses you kill on a full clear.

  • Tip

Alliance: save your turn-ins for one trip to Stormwind City. Three of your four quests end there.

  • Tip

Go in with a tank, a healer and three damage dealers, and bring food, water and bandages for six bosses.

Changelog

  • Guide published.
  • Refreshed the page title and summary.
  • Added the new drops: Rath'mael's blueprints and the Rotmender's pieces from trash.
  • Added A Frightened Request to the Horde quests.
