Overview

Ragefire Chasm is a network of volcanic caves right under Orgrimmar. Troggs have moved into the caverns, and deeper in, the Searing Blade, a demon-worshipping cult, plots against the Horde from beneath its own capital. It's a run for Horde characters in their early teens, and one of the shortest dungeons in the game.

All four bosses drop gear, three blues each. The bigger payout is the quests. Six of them, all Horde, send you to Orgrimmar, Thunder Bluff and the Undercity, and one clear finishes almost all of them.

Getting there

The entrance is inside Orgrimmar, in the Cleft of Shadow. From the Valley of Strength, walk into the cleft and follow it to the Ragefire Chasm portal.

It's a Horde dungeon through and through: the portal sits inside the Horde capital, and all six quests are Horde-only.

Quests

Pick up everything you can before you go down. Hidden Enemies and Slaying the Beast hand in right there in Orgrimmar, so they cost you nothing. The Thunder Bluff and Undercity hand-ins can ride along on your next trip.

Bosses

Oggleflint

Level 16EliteShow on map: Oggleflint

The Ragefire Chieftain leads the troggs. Clear the Ragefire Troggs and Ragefire Shamans around him, then pull him on his own. His Cleave hits his target and the player nearest to it, and he drops three blues.

Abilities

  • CleaveTank

Hits his target and the player nearest to it.

Taragaman hits everyone near him with Fire Nova and knocks his target back with Uppercut. Tank him with your back to a wall, keep the healer and ranged players out of his reach, and the fight stays simple.

His heart completes Slaying the Beast, and he drops Cursed Felblade, a sword whose hits lower the target's attack power.

Tank

Put your back to a wall so Uppercut can't knock you out of position or into another pack.

Healer

Stay out of Fire Nova range. It hits the melee as well as the tank, so keep them topped up too.

Damage

Ranged, stand back. Melee, you take every nova, so let the tank build threat before you open.

Abilities

  • Fire NovaHealers

Fire damage to everyone near him, several times a fight. Healers, keep the melee topped up.

  • UppercutTank

A heavy blow that knocks the tank back.

Jergosh is a Searing Blade warlock. He sets his target on fire with Immolate and lowers a player's physical damage with Curse of Weakness. Interrupt Immolate whenever you can and kill him fast: the fire damage adds up in a long fight.

He drops Robe of Evocation, a cloth chest with Stamina, Intellect and Spirit.

Tank

Curse of Weakness lowers your physical damage once it lands, so open hard and build your threat lead early.

Healer

Immolate keeps burning after the cast. Keep a heal-over-time on whoever has it.

Damage

Interrupt Immolate: Kick, Shield Bash and Earth Shock all stop it.

Abilities

  • ImmolateCan be interruptedMagic effect

Burns a player, then Fire damage every few seconds for 21 seconds. Interrupt the cast or dispel the burn.

  • Curse of WeaknessCurse

Lowers a player's Physical damage for 30 seconds. A mage or a druid can remove it.

Bazzalan

Level 16EliteFinal bossShow on map: Bazzalan

Bazzalan, a satyr and one of the Searing Blade's leaders, waits at the far end of the chasm. His blows poison, and Sinister Strike adds extra damage on the tank every few seconds, so keep a cure ready. He drops three blues. With him and Jergosh dead, Hidden Enemies is done.

Abilities

  • PoisonPoison

His blows poison: Nature damage over time. Cure it if you can.

  • Sinister StrikeTank

Extra damage on the tank every 5 to 15 seconds.

Trash and pulls

  • The trogg packs mix Ragefire Troggs with Ragefire Shamans. Kill the Shamans first: they're the casters.
  • The Searing Blade holds the deeper caves: Cultists, Enforcers and Searing Blade Warlocks. Pull each pack around a corner so the Warlocks walk to you instead of casting from range.
  • Polymorph works on the troggs, the Searing Blade and the Earthborers, and Sap on the troggs and the Searing Blade. The Molten Elementals are elementals, so neither holds them. Damage breaks both, so keep your AoE off crowd-controlled targets.

Loot

Every boss drops three blues. Taragaman's and Jergosh's six are solid upgrades for the level and listed here; Oggleflint's and Bazzalan's are in the table below:

Tips

  • Hand in Hidden Enemies and Slaying the Beast on your way out: both finish inside Orgrimmar, a short walk from the portal.
  • Bring an interrupt for Jergosh. Rogues get Kick and Warriors get Shield Bash at 12, and Shamans have had Earth Shock since level 4.
  • Tank Taragaman against a wall and keep everyone who isn't meleeing him out of Fire Nova's reach.
  • Kill Jergosh and Bazzalan in the same run: Hidden Enemies needs both.
